Malony - Mary Mahoney

Mrs. Mary A. Malony died this morning at 5:45 o'clock at the home of her daughter, Mrs. WC Murphy, 408 West Main Street. She had been in declining health since Christmas time, and took a turn for the worse on last Tuesday. She was not afflicted with any special malady but was just in a weakened condition due to old age.
Mary Malony was born August 10, 1846 in Cahersiveen, County Carey, Ireland. The family moved to Canada when she was only 8 years of age, and lived in Montreal for about a year. From there they moved to Ladoga, Indiana and here the deceased spent most of her girlhood days. She was married in this city April 12, 1886 to Michael Malony and moved to Greencastle. To this union were born four children, all of whom survive, Mary A. Malony, Mrs WC Murphy and John Malony of this city and William Malony of Indianapolis. Her husband died in 1891 and 1900 she moved from Greencastle to this city where she has since made her home.
The deceased was a prominent member of St. Bernard's Catholic Church here and has always been a faithful Christian woman. Funeral arrangements have not been made as yet, but burial will probably take place in Forest Hill Cemetery at Greencastle. - kbz
